Our unique background at Podyum Preps includes over 15 years of experience working at and with boarding schools and the placement of student-athletes at them. About Private High Schools
Non-boarding, private “Day” schools in the United States offer many of the same benefits as boarding schools, minus the ability to live in a dorm on campus. Typically a student in a “Day” school or non-boarding school, stays with a host family that provides a living space, supervision, meals, and transportation for the student for a monthly fee.
The advantages of a day school can include strong and diverse athletics programs with more teams and sports options, strong or more specific religious affiliation, different options with locations in and around urban areas, and potential savings financially. The vast majority of these schools are strong academically and pride themselves on their college placement, small class sizes, and strong curriculums.
Students who choose this route to attend a non-boarding private school have the same ability to pursue their diploma and graduate as those students who attend a boarding private school. Adding this option to your search can increase your options and choices exponentially, but doesn’t have the same assurances of success that a boarding school might for some.

Building the List
At Podyum Preps, we start the recruiting process by producing a list based on all the athlete’s desired program characteristics. We then recommend a list of schools that fit your unique profile as a starting point. This doesn’t mean that those are the only schools that will recruit you or that we will connect with, but it is the initial core list that we believe you should focus your greatest efforts in communication, camps or visits, and admissions preparation. We will recommend a number of schools that fit your profile based on our observations, evaluations, and experience in this process. This list is a collaborative effort between our clients’ families and the Podyum Preps team. It is a core piece of making this process as directed and individualized as we possibly can. In essence, we don’t rely on the shotgun approach of mass marketing- we help keep this process winnable by keeping the recruiting list sensible, logical, client-specific and manageable.
Finishing the Process
We provide our student-athletes with the tools and knowledge to manage Boarding/HS school applications, prepare for meetings with coaches and admissions officers, and apply for financial aid. We believe that both aspects of the “student-athlete” have to be supported in the process to find the greatest education and athletic program for you.
